RESIDENTS OPPOSE SECOND COMMERCIAL PORT FOR GREENORE

On 15th March 2007 Greenore Port Ltd, a Company jointly owned by Dublin Port Company and One51, served notice to An Bord Pleanala of their intention to seek permission for development under the Planning and Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act 2006.

Under the new Act, an applicant, if deemed to qualify, may lodge an application directly to An Bord Pleanala, thereby by-passing the local planning authority (Louth County Council).

On 15th February 2008 An Bord Pleanala decided that the proposed development (Ref: PC0011), qualified as strategic infrastructure under section 37A(2)(c) of the Act

    • the development would have a significant effect on the area of more than one planning authority.

No application has been made to date.

Greenore.

The residents of Greenore, a unique Victorian Railway village located on Carlingford Lough in Co.Louth are in favour of development in general and wish to see Greenore develop into a Centre of Excellence for Marine Technology and Renewable Energy Sources.

The residents are however opposed to this recent proposed development and Greenore Residents & Tidy Towns (GRTT), a group that has represented the interests of residents for over 25 years, have created this website to raise awareness and garner support.
